About Future Skeletons
James Asmus and Jim Festante are Future Skeletons. I mean, you are, too, but lowercase “f” + “s”.
TOGETHER, James & Jim have created, written, and developed comics, animation, live comedy, and more. Published comics include two volumes of SURVIVAL STREET for Dark Horse Comics, FIELD TRIPPING for Amazon Comixology, THE END TIMES OF BRAM AND BEN for Image Comics, and multiple RICK AND MORTY books for Oni Press. Their recent work in animation encompasses developing original concepts and adapting other material.
The pair met as cast members of an improv comedy TAROT LOUNGE show in Las Vegas with headlining runs at the Palms Casino. They immediately bonded over their shared love of "big question, emotional struggle" stories stuffed inside twisted genre storytelling, smothered in loads of surprising and dark comedy.
FUTURE SKELETONS is the result of their constantly coming up with new ideas together, and the desire to explore them in whichever medium is the best fit.
JAMES ASMUS has won awards for his comedy, comics, and playwriting - and writes professionally for books, games, and television. His published work includes RICK AND MORTY comics, a reimagining of QUANTUM & WOODY for Valiant ( which snagged five Harvey Award nominations, including Best Writer), many Marvel Comics titles including GAMBIT, CAPTAIN AMERICA, and AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, the TRANSFORMERS / MY LITTLE PONY crossovers for IDW, and lots of your other favorite characters. James has also written original series like body horror series EVOLUTION and heist thriller THIEF OF THIEVES for Skybound (with WALKING DEAD creator Robert Kirkman). In traditional publishing, he’s written official tie-in books with Insight Editions for RICK AND MORTY, SUPERNATURAL (CW), and CALL OF DUTY: ZOMBIES (Activision Blizzard). Additionally, James has years of experience writing mobile games for Marvel and has been a contributing writer to multiple Marvel/Disney television projects. Other TV credits include writing and producing shows for History and Discovery networks. He lives outside Portland, OR with his wife and two weirdly wonderful kids.
JIM FESTANTE has written for various networks including NBC, Comedy Central, MTV, and Syfy, as well as media outlets The Washington Post, NBC TODAY, Discovery Networks, and Slate Magazine. His episodic series ANTI-SOCIAL, which he wrote and produced, was selected as a Sundance Lab finalist. He’s also written official guides and cookbooks for gaming companies including BioWare (MASS EFFECT), Naughty Dog (THE LAST OF US), and Bethesda Game Studios (STARFIELD), all with Insight Editions. As an actor, Jim has starred in national commercials, was a recurring sketch performer on NBC’s LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O’BRIEN, recurred on ABC’s GENERAL HOSPITAL, and appeared on TV and original series for ABC, NBC, MTV, and Comedy Central. He was an improviser for many years with UCB in venues throughout NYC, LA, and Las Vegas, as well as opening for “Weird Al” Yankovic. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, their super fun kid, and a yappy little wiener dog.
